0001 22 A: Starting in May of 1975.
0001 23 Q: Prior to that position, did you have any

0002 1 A: No.
0002 2 Q: As director of advance product development,
0002 3 who did you report to?
0002 4 A: Fredick Quimby.
0002 5 Q: What were your responsibilities as director

0002 7 A: Primarily, my responsibility involved

0002 10 working on a product which has since been announced
0002 11 as the Gen-o-Matic Plus.
0002 12 Q: Did you work on the Super-matic Extra product at

0002 14 MR. BECKER: Object to the form of the

0002 16 But if you can answer, Mr. Ryker,
0002 17 please do so.
0002 18 A: What do you mean by "at all"?
0002 19 Q: Well, did you have any responsibilities
0002 20 with regard to the product known as Super-matic Extra at
0002 21 the time you were director of advance product
0002 22 development?
0002 23 A: I had no direct responsibilities for the
0002 24 development of Super-matic Extra during that period.
0003 1 Q: Did you have any indirect responsibilities
0003 2 with regard to Super-matic Extra during that period?
0003 3 A: Not what I would call responsibilities.
0003 4 The people who were working on portions of Super-matic
0003 5 were physically near where my office was, and so at
0003 6 times, I would discuss aspects of the product with
0003 7 them in a kind of informal consulting arrangement.
0003 8 Q: And who were those people that you had
0003 9 those kind of discussions with?
0003 10 A: William Nilly for one. I can't remember who
0003 11 else was involved at the time.
0003 12 Q: And when you assumed your present position
0003 13 in October of 1975, who did you first report to?
0003 14 A: Initially, I reported to Fred Quimby.
0003 15 Q: Did that change in your position involve a
0003 16 promotion that occurred in October of 1975?
0003 17 A: No. In October of 1975, yes, I was
0003 18 promoted to vice-president of corporate research
0003 19 development, and I continued to report to Fred
0003 20 Quimby at that point in time.
0003 21 Q: Was the position that you assumed a new
0003 22 position?
0003 23 A: Yes, it was.
0003 24 Q: Did your responsibilities change in any way
0004 1 when you became vice-president of corporate research
0004 2 and development?
0004 3 A: Yes, they did.
0004 4 Q: And how did they change?
0004 5 A: I assumed a responsibility in terms of
0004 6 coordination of various product development
0004 7 activities across the company, particularly in the
0004 8 areas of product planning between the various
0004 9 business units.
